Excerpts from the March interview with Steven Woodward the
President of Executive Order

Mary: You logo for Executive Order is great. Does the Eagle have
a name?
Steven: Yes, the Eagle is named EO.
Mary: Since we have been sitting here, a few people have come in
and called you "Rocket Man".
Steven: I was born on Redstone Arsenal in "Rocket City" so my
call sign is “Rocket Man”, it just stuck.
Mary: Tell me about the company slogan “Destiny is Calling”.
Steven: That is a line from the song “Mr. Brightside” by “The
Killers” of course.
Mary: When someone asked you about Executive Order’s
implementation of Robots. You say “The future is closer than you
think.” Tell me what do you mean?
Steven: Executive Order is focusing on the concept of developing
and employing robots that would replace humans to perform many
of the combat functions on the battlefield. The Executive Order
Tactical Autonomous Combatant (TAC) Robot would include the
ability to work on ground, air, sea and even space. The
Executive Order tactical autonomous combatants operate largely
autonomously with some limited human supervision.
The greatest hurdles to overcome are the general public’s
perception and the military culture. The acceptance to allow
robots to perform functions that are currently being done by
humans will be difficult. What is interesting though is that we
are already doing this. For example, Patriot Missile Batteries,
close-in-weapons systems, cruise missiles, and other “smart”
weapons are already pretty autonomous.
It will be difficult to overcome the resistance of replacing
human pilots, soldiers, sailors, and Marines with robots. Or, to
allow machines to make decisions. But, the clock is ticking, to
bring these robots to the battlefield. Perhaps an even larger
imperative is that the United States is not the only nation that
recognizes the future of integrated battlefield robotics. Other
countries and groups are pursuing robotics. Executive Order is
at the leading edge, we can lag behind and some day, maybe have
to oppose a lethal robotic force.

Executive Order - Destiny is Calling - Our Famous Navy and Marine Corps Call Signs
Steven "Rocketman" Woodward, I was born on Redstone Arsenal in
"Rocket City" so my call sign is “Rocket Man”, it just stuck.
Mike "Super man" Rose, he always ready to fly with the laides.
Tom "Donor" Halpin, VMAQ-4, he was the only living human brain
donor in history.
John "Tail Gunner" Gettle, as a Marine Staff NCO he always took
care of VMA and MAW Marines six o'clock, on and off-duty (mostly
off-duty - got to protect the Corps Values).
Lt. Dan "blind baby" Shipley. He was an NFO with VP-26 in the
1970s. He wore glasses and the senior NFO on the crew started
calling him "blind baby," and it stuck.
Lt. Paul "Remains" Romaine. He was a search and rescue pilot in
the mid 80s. Also known as LCdr. Paul "Lettuce" Romaine.
GMC Doug " Psycho" Ward: Inshore Boat Unit Coxswain with a
weapons habit.
GySgt Jack "Scoop" Ruth, USMC (Ret.) - I was first given the
call sign "Scoop," because I worked in a newspaper before
joining the USMC. I also had a second MOS teaching CBNR or NBC
in the Corps.
Lt. Ron "Chadwick" Martin - When assigned Ron was the oldest H2P
in the Navy (arguably). Comes from a guy named Frenchie Chadwick
from the Continental Navy!
Lt. Scottie "Too Hottie" Thompson. Now an instructor in HTs, Lt.
Thompson is well known in the H-53 community for being a hot
shot (in a good way) in and out of the cockpit. One of the best
sticks in the community.
Lt. Todd "Dome" Harder, who could get mad at calling a bald guy
Dome, like "chrome dome."
Executive Order - Marine Corps Combat Rules
1. Have a plan to kill everyone you meet including your
friends…
2. Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice.
3. If you are not shooting, you are communicating your intention
to shoot.
4. When in doubt, empty the magazine.
5. Kill every living thing within view.
6. Be courteous to everyone, friendly to no one.
7. Decide to be aggressive enough, quickly enough. |
"Only dead men stop fighting." - Steven "Rocket Man" Woodward
And our leader, being, well... our leader... "Let me see you War
Face!"
